Since I’ve started Mary’s Letters I have had several projects. One of the very first ones was for my cousin Katelyn’s 2nd grade classes in Chula Vista. Through a friend in San Diego I was connected with Bill and Sue McLeod, who run a nonprofit called Got Your Back. I write 200 cards for them every month. They go inside the backpacks they give to kids after school before the weekend. They are filled with food and supplies. Most all the kids are struggling with family and housing issues so they can use all the support that can be given. Just feel blessed to be a small part of their mission. Since then I have finished projects for an orphanage in Baja, Mexico, which was an exciting opportunity. All the cards had to be translated into Spanish. Also, cards were sent to a juvenile detention facility in Montana. More projects are in the words so stay tuned.
I start my day at Pillars Cafe, which is located at Shepherd of the Hills Church. Good coffee and the staff there are very kind. I put my headphones in and I get busy writing cards. I’m usually there for six hours, The rest of the day I’m putting stickers on the cards and then getting them into envelopes so they can be delivered or shipped out,
I have a great passion for what Mary’s Letters is all about and I’m really excited about what the future holds. As more projects come in I hope I’m blessed with the time to do this kind of work.
I just think words of encouragement from pen to paper are timeless and are much needed in this day and age. Especially for kids!! Thank you for reading.
Have a blessed day,
